      Mungkin pos ini agak telat karena Ubuntu 14.04 sudah dirilis setahun yang lalu tetapi tidak apa-apa Ubuntu 14.04 masih didukung sampai tahun 2019. Sudah lama saya tidak menggunakan modem Sierra 308 ini karena suatu alasan saya memakainya lagi sekarang. Pada waktu masih menggunakan Ubuntu 12.04 precise tidak ada masalah dengan modem ini. Namun ketika saya memakainya lagi di Elementary Freya alias turunan Ubuntu 14.04 tidak bisa menggunakkannya lagi. permasalahannya pada menu networking Enable mobile broadband selalu kembali ke off kemudian saat di klik nama operator langsung disconnect,

     Masalah ini terjadi karena paket modemmanager. Pada Ubuntu 14.04 paket modemmanager sudah menggunakan versi 1.0.0-2 dan di Ubuntu precise versi 0.5.2.0. Mungkin ini bug dari modemmanager versi 1.0.0-2. Agar kita tetap bisa menggunakan modem Sierra 308 di Ubuntu 14.04 ikuti langkah berikut:

1. Instal modemmanager versi precise.
$ wget http://goo.gl/p5sTa6
$ sudo dpkg -i modemmanager_0.5.2.0-0ubuntu2_i386.deb
2. Buka synaptic, jika belum terinstal instal synatic dengan perintah sudo apt-get install synaptic.

3. Cari modemmanger kemudian klik pada modemmanager. Klik Paket > Paksakan versi.



4. Pilih paket 0.5.2.0 (precise).


5. Mengunci versi paket. Untuk menjaga versi paket saat mengupgrade aplikasi-aplikasi lainnya modem manager tetap tetap pada versi 0.5.2.0.

  3. Pindah ke directori /etc/smokeping/config.d
    cd /etc/smokeping/config.d
  4. Modif File General. Backup, Kosongkan file General, kemudian Isi file General.
    cp General General.backup

    nano General
  5. Isikan dan sesuaikan dengan kondisi anda saat ini.

    Nemo With Unity Patches Available For Ubuntu 16 04 Xenial Xerus


    Quick update: Nemo (2.8.7) with Unity patches and without Cinnamon dependencies is now available in the WebUpd8 Nemo PPA for Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus.

    Nemo File Manager Ubuntu

    For those not familiar with Nemo, this is the default Cinnamon file manager and is a Nautilus fork.

    Nemo continues to provide many of the features removed from Nautilus, like the extra pane or the toggle location button, but there are some other changes as well, like a customizable toolbar (you can add or remove the up/refresh/search/etc icons), built-in "Open as root", "Open in terminal" and "Set as wallpaper" context menu items and much more.

    Besides making Nemo available for Ubuntu 16.04 in the WebUpd8 Nemo PPA, I also updated it to the latest 2.8.7 version for Ubuntu 14.04 and 15.10.

    A while back, I updated Nemo to version 2.8.6 however, many users complained about frequent crashes, so I downgraded it to version 2.6.7. The the bug that caused those crashes was fixed, so I decided to update the PPA with this version.

    Note: Nemo 2.8.6 is available in the official Ubuntu 16.04 repositories however, it cant be used to draw the desktop under Unity and it comes with Cinnamon dependencies.

    If you already have the WebUpd8 Nemo PPA added, simply update the software sources (run "sudo apt-get update") and then install the updates any way you wish (using Software Updater, command line, Synaptic or whatever). After the update is done, either kill Nemo (using the "killall nemo" command; "nemo -q" doesnt work with updates in some cases) or log out and log back in.
